This magnificent audio collection
showcases the many sides of Poe's writing personality. The gothic
macabre tales are well represented, including "The Tell Tale
Heart", "The Cask of Amontillado", and "The Fall of the House of
Usher". Supernatural adventure also appears, in "M.S. Found in a
Bottle" and "A Descent into the Maelstrom". The science-fiction
side of mesmerism is demonstrated in "The Facts in the Case of M.
Valdemar". The philosophic duality of human nature is well explored
in "William Wilson". And, as one of the pioneers of the detective
story, Poe demonstrates his extensive powers of ratiocination in
"The Gold Bug". Interspersed throughout are several of Poe's finest
poems, including "The Raven" and "Annabel Lee".
