VOLUME 1 of 2
Nicholas Nickleby is a portrait of
integrity in the face of adversity. Nicholas befriends Smyke, a
physically challenged runaway from a deplorable Yorkshire school.
And through many hardships and adventures, he shows the power of
friendship, dedication, and strength.
Featuring a glorious cast of Dickensian heroes and villains,
Nicholas Nickleby is a tour-de-force Victorian novel. Scowl back at
the cringe-worthy Wackford Squeers, and laugh at the histrionics of
the Crummels Family. While Ralph Nickleby shows you the evils that
money can bring, the Cheeryble brothers demonstrate the good. And
though Nicholas walks through the fire, he also triumphs as a
beacon of hope for the downtrodden.

A masterpiece. Harrison's reading makes the story absolutely engrossing and entertaining. I'm disappointed when my commute ends!

I found B.J. Harrison's rendition of this Dickens' classic throughly entertaining and capitvating. Harrison's narrative made me feel like I was right in scene with the characters. This is such a great way to immerse yourself in classic literature when life keeps you too busy to pick up the book. I am so thankful for Mr. Harrison's talents and for his efforts to make works like this available at affordable prices. I was unfamiliar with this piece until now, and I doubt I'd have stumbled across it on my own. After purchasing and listening to it, I feel enriched and you will too!

I gave it 5 stars in spite of my not a big fan of Dickens which is full of the way of life and abusive behavior common at that time. AND you have to have an attention span greater than a second as the sentences are long.Nonetheless, BJ did a GREAT job voice acting this and its the main reason I gave it 5 stars. The voices invented for each character are absolutely remarkable!
From Bonnie Discuillo of Dexter, Michigan on 1/24/2016.
I am thoroughly enjoying this book. Once again the voices are so well done that I forget that I'm not listening to several actors. Following Nicholas and his sister Kate as their lives are changed by the people they encounter.
