Prince John has assembled a collection
of avaricious nobles to take control of England while Richard the
Lionhearted is imprisoned in Austria. This threatens to bring the
country to civil war between the Norman nobles and the conquered
Saxons. Standing above it all is Wilfred of Ivanhoe, a disinherited
Saxon knight who has fought in the Holy Land. Now returned, he
wishes to wed the fair Rowena, the highborn Saxon noble, in spite
of the seemingly insurmountable obstacles that stand in his way.
With dozens of colorful characters, clashing swords, burning
castles, kings in disguise and damsels in distress, Ivanhoe remains
Scott's best-loved novel of historical romance.
From Elizabeth Romeril of New Orleans, Louisiana on 8/19/2016.
I am a fan of classic literature, but had never read Ivanhoe. I was therefore extremely pleased and delighted to listen to the tale through B.J.'s incredible voice. I was thoroughly drawn into the world of medieval England, and found myself looking forward to the moments I had free to listen to more. I can't properly express with what fascination I followed the story of Brian du Bois Gilbert and his contradictory love for Rebecca of York, or with what sheer delight I experienced the hilarious meeting . . .
Another excellent production!

The usual great quality from B.J. Harrison.

Indeed, a flawless production. And a a compelling, exciting story built upon a fascinating historical basis. I could swear that, while listening to it, and as it echoed in my soul afterward, I was in medieval England. I saw the lists of the tournament and the Black Knight and the storming of the castle and the yeomen of the forests, and I was on the edge of my seat at the dénouement. And you gotta love Wamba! What a wise and brave fool!!!
An adventure worth hearing!
From Anonymous of MIAMI, Florida on 5/11/2012.
From beginning to end, this is a story worth hearing. It is not only about Ivanhoe, a gallant knight, but other knights, codes of chivalry, beautiful women with strong convictions, friars, Robin Hood and his outlaws, and impassioned Templars. Social, political, and religious tensions of that time connect the parallel stories, as the character's fates intertwine throughout this wonderfully narrated tale. :) It's really worth the price.
Wonderful Novel-Better production!
